The book of John offers a unique perspective of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Most believe it was written by one of Jesus' closest friends and followers, John. John refers to himself as the one Jesus loved throughout his Gospel account, indicating his close relationship with his Lord. John recounts the miracles and teachings of Jesus to help readers in his day and ours see that Jesus is more than a human with God-like power and wisdom; he is God, the Son. He writes with one purpose - that readers of his book "may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God, and that by believing they may have life in union with him" (John 20:31).
